So I tought I'd give you all a run down of what has been going down the past couple of days. I haven't written because things have been pretty busy lately.
Anyways, here is what happened. Or at least our memories thereof...
Had a great show in Virginia. Possible sightseeing to be made but didn't do it. Nailed the show instead.
NY, Webster hall:
Played our own concert and in a lot of ways it felt like a kind of release party for the Black and White album. Everybody we know in NY showed up and it was a very pleasurable experience. We were on fire! Actually we were even more on fire that we usually are. If you were at the show though we are always that good. We had gotten a message from a girl called Imani Coppola who is ALSO putting out a Black and White album this fall. We listened to it and decided that it is by far the second best Black and White album to come out ever! Great stuff. After the show us and a bunch of our friends from all over the world went to a bar called the Black and White bar situated two blocks from Webster Hall. I know, too perfect. We spent the night there jitterbugging with the locals and watching the head of our label do cardtricks. After much debauchery we tried to go home to the hotel with varying degrees of sucess. I lost my second phone of the tour and had an accident too.
NY, Madison Square Garden:
We woke up in various states of disrepair and tried to make our way to a radio station as I recall. We were going to be THE FIRST SWEDISH BAND EVER TO PLAY MADISON SQUARE GARDEN!!! As usual in NY we were scooted around to various TV shows and interviews and didnt really see that much of the city. We played the show and won over a fairly large amount of the audience really quickly. We have to do it that way. It is a short set. After the set we met Kanye West and chatted about this and that and then went to a great restaurant for some mindnumbingly good italian food. On the way there we talked about trash metal sneakers with big tongue. Somebody says Julian from the Strokes had some when we met them this summer. In a freak occurance somebody else says -and there he is now. Yes, it is him. We like that. A couple of fans also just happened to walk by and said how much we changed their life and looked very sincere. Thank you right back. The official afterparty is next were we run in to a swedish comedian who just ate a part of his own buttock with some balsamic reduction. He says it tasted like celery. We drink and laugh and have a few good and a few bad conversations.
Uncasville, Mohegan Sun Casino:
The Mohegan Sun Resort is a huge Indian Casino complex. The Native Americans are allowed to run casinos free of tax in exchange for their country. Seems like a bandaid on a severed head but there you go. Also saw the Violent Femmes play in the Wolf Den of the casino. They played the same time as us but a full show so we saw 20 minutes of their set, went down into the arena and did our own show and then raced back up to see them finish their set and then enjoy aftershow beers with the band. Thanks alot to David who drove us in the golfcart all around the casino and sorted everything out and thanks to the Femmes for a good time and a good show.
Played in the old Flyers arena. It smelled like 70's hockey fistfights and cheap beer. Bought Hockey sticks for pre show warm up or just killing time.
Boston, Middle East:
Back at the Middle East for a proper full long show. Feels good to keep the tools sharp with own shows inbetween the arena dates.
Boston, TD Bank North Gardens:
Holy shit what a show!!! Maybe this was the first time on this tour that people actually cried seeing how good we are/were. True story!
Hockey sticks out. Found a net in the back of the arena and took out the pucks and sticks we bought in Philly for a bit of a shootout.
Washington, Black Cat:
Yup that's where we are now. Looking forward to todays show at the Black Cat. Should be a good one. See ya'll there!
